Steak and Cheese Sandwiches

1 Lb. Thin Cut Beef Round
1/2 Red Onion (sliced into rings)
8 oz. Sliced Mushrooms
1/2 Tsp. Olive Oil
Garlic Powder, Salt and Pepper (to taste)
4 Sub Rolls
8 Slices Provolone Cheese

Slice beef into thin strips and season with garlic powder, salt and pepper. Heat medium skillet on high until very hot. Spray pan with cooking spray, add seasoned beef and cook 2 minutes (toss skillet about every 30 seconds). Set the beef aside and repeat the same procedure to cook the onions. After the onions are done, set them aside and turn heat down to medium to saute the mushrooms. Once pan has cooled, add 1/2 tsp. olive oil and saute the mushrooms 2-3 minutes. Slice sub rolls and evenly divide the meat among them topping each sandwich with onions, mushrooms and 2 slices of cheese. Broil on Low for 3 minutes and serve.

  1. OMG! I love skinnytaste and that looked so good. I was wondering about the meat - affordable? I know nothing about shopping for red meat. Glad to know the thin cut beef round - whatever that is - is an afforable meat. Do they cut it for you or do you have to? :)

  2. Krista - it cost me under $4 for the meat. I think I bought it on sale, but either way it should be reasonable...it comes already packaged, sliced thin. All you have to do is slice it into thin strips before cooking it. I'm pretty sure it says Thin Cut Beef Round right on the package.
